No, it's a big resourse hog and in the end it's just a slower XP.

Depends Microsoft plans on giving Windowx XP support for the OS for at least a couple of more years and then stop supporting it all together.

Most people are waiting until a good chunk of the bugs are fixed before even buying the software. Trust me Windows always comes with them.

The only thing really knew about vista is that a bigger resource hog then ever. ! gig of Ram is able to support the memory vista uses, I wouldn't doubt it, but I plan to go at least 2 gigs of ram just to run it properly. the only new stuff is that vista just has a new look and a new security system. Which mind you the vista beta has been out their awhile and who knows how many people good some programs ready to crack it .

the only thing it will improve is look and maybe security thats about it. So far from what I know is that most software is buggy with it, so you won't see updated software for at least 6 months to a year.

Of course now the next new computer get will have vista installed in it. That Started last month, so until your computer craps out on you I would wait at least a year before getting. Like I mentioned above hopefully some of the bugs and security problems they find will be fixed

I have windows Vista! and this is an opinion from a Mac user (I just use windows for gaming) Its actually very nice if you can run the aero interface which looks GREAT! more security features including this annoying security alert box that pops up when you try to do anything (ex: change the comps time). Doesn't crash anywhere near as much as XP so I would say if you have the money Upgrade! Also Microsoft has something called the upgrade advisor tells you if you can run vista get it if you haven't already!

To be hassle-free whether that's a sturdy deal get it Vista isn't all that undesirable. I geared up a working laptop or workstation with Vista and have not had any compatibility issues yet. For the needs your declaring it is going to artwork basically advantageous. I run Adobe layout top rate CS3 in this device which consists of Photoshop. i might verify this workstation has a minimum of two Gig of mem or a minimum of is upgradeable to that.

Well, Vista has come with many advances, but, it will also put a drain on your computer resources. many computers are able to run vista, but not with all the effects and themes enabled. Now about vista being worth it, well, if ur happy with Xp, wait intill all the bugs are out of Vista.

I have used Vista and I can tell you the only performance change is that it is just prettier. I did notice that an anoying window always pops up and asks are you sure this is what you want to do? Of course its what I want to do thats why im doing it. It surely isnt any faster, in fact it seems to slow things down with all the security running in the background. My advise, stick with XP. "PEACE"

We just bought a new laptop and it has Vista installed on it. We installed a patch from the Vista website and the OS seems to be working real well. It took a little getting used to, but it seems to be working fine and no bugs, at least not yet.
