Yeah that's right to install it in the safe mode, but remeber to don't install the file which you have downloaded from pcworld.com just download the same file from www.download.com and then install it,

procedure for installing

Press F8 when your computer is booting up, you will get many options, one of them is "safe mode" just select it, and wait until the windows are properly started

Now run the file and select each and every check box, but remeber to install it on the system files which is the first option there, and click next-next & next until it says that "It is installing Vista transformation Pack' now you have to wait for about 20 min. as it takes time to install, or morever it depends on your computer's configuration, when it says that installation completed and ask you to restart the windows just do that, Then the first time you will not see the "Windows vista's Booting screen" as you will get it after your next restart, just follow the instruction after the windows starts

Now i thinks that the side bar will annoy you and the start button will also seems to be crashed, Don't worry you will see that there is double button for "start' one is hidden besides the actual one, just move it dragging and right click on it and click close, Now it's time to deactivate the side bar

Just got to Run > "msconfig" a windows will pop up just go to the last tab and thne uncheck the service named "side bar' click Ok and restart your PC

hurray Enjoy !!

Well, my advice is to do a clean install from a complete vista CD, as it is much better in general and has been reported to avoid many problems caused by upgrading from existing XP installations, such as persistent system hangups and occasional crashes. This requires reformatting the hard drive and everything, though, but it is the best course of action.

You should install it in Safe Mode because there are problems if you install it in regular mode. Also, choose system files since they worked perfectly for me when I installed it. Also uninstall from safe mode if you didn't like it.

Remember SAFE MODE!
