Ok heres onr that microsoft can't tell me the answer to. I an upgrading from win.98 to xp, the pc is a HP Pavilion e310 996mghz pros. 256mem. mets all requirements. the computer runs find no troubles. Now when I went to upgrade/ even tried new install, it freezes in a matter of a few seconds. 30-40 seconds. nothing responds i've tried upgrading and new iinstall/ formatted the HD all works uo to the install and it locks up. what going on? The pc had Xp on it before and worked fine (had to format before and only had the 98 reinstall cd) just bought xp cd and am haveing this problem. MS worked with me and IT! for hours today but no luck. ANY help would be great quickest answer that works gets the points ty all

i have a fine collection of pdf ebooks but, some big name publishers,

one thing i dont like is thats some don't even have simply index systems built in to navigate the daam book..so i have to write the last page number i was on..then flick through the whole book again..

is there some thing i am missing or it just me...i us adobe acrobat

any easy quick way ... ? such as programs? I can't redownload the programs cause they're huge and I originally dl as a .torrent file, which takes all night with a normal connection, and since I'm overseas in Asia, there are not fast speed reliable connections near me ... I doubt they sell Norton Ghost either, but even if they did, I just want to save 2 programs, not take the entire infected hard drive to the new laptop ...... any hope??

I'm having issue with getting a computer at work to open up jpegs. The problem is that all jpegs and many other media types for that matter are associated with this Intervideo Home theater. so much so that they all share the same logo and under file properties they are listed as being an Intervideo media file. I have tried importing them from a usb drive, tried saving them with .jpeg in the file name. I've changed what program jpegs open with to paint using the properties menu. Nothing seems to work. We don't have IT at work and the program came installed. I'm probably just going to get permission to uninstall it. I have tried to change the settings under "set program access and defualts" menu, but the program overrides this and always sets itself to the default. There is also no option in the program as to what file types it is associated with. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

my computer got messed up and i had to repair it. I used an applications and drivers cd, that Gateway had sent me. When repairing, one of the installation screens that poped up said "XP Professional" on it. but after installation, when my computer starts up, it says Windows XP, nothing about home or pro. When i go to control panel, then press system, it says my computer is "XP Media Center Edition". When i go in to Tune Up, (a pc optimizing software) and i look at my computer info there, it says i have XP Pro. And just today i was searching through my computer, and i found the "XP Profesional" start up image (the image that pops up on the screen when you turn on your computer) deep in the WINDOWS folder in my computer. i have no idea what is going on... maybe some one else does. please comment. tx!

I have an IBM Thinkpad laptop which came with Wi-Fi and used to work fine. I had some problems and had the hard drive reformatted and they had to download all the programs that came with windows XP fro the internet. However I think there is no wi-fi software on it any more. How do I check? And how do I find a downloadable wi-fi program if I don't still have it? If we need some back and forth just email me pls.

Something happened in my MS Excel 2003. Before, when I hit "Enter", it would go to the next row. Now, when I hit "Enter" it moves to the next column (just as if I've hit the "Tab" button). How do I get it back to move to the next row?
