What is the best free download manager/accelerator?

I want something that will not give you any spyware, adware, viruses, etc. Please list features such as splitting files for faster downloads, automatic shutdown after download completion, etc. No peer to peer.

In my humble opinion, Flashget ( http://www.flashget.com/index_en.htm ) wins hands down. If you use Firefox, it goes best with the Flashgot extension ( https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/220/ )
