I have an IBM Thinkpad laptop which came with Wi-Fi and used to work fine. I had some problems and had the hard drive reformatted and they had to download all the programs that came with windows XP fro the internet. However I think there is no wi-fi software on it any more. How do I check? And how do I find a downloadable wi-fi program if I don't still have it? If we need some back and forth just email me pls.

Chances are good that the driver for the Wi-Fi was deleted.

You can check from MyComputer. Right Click the icon or on the link in the Start list. Then click properties, Once on the properties screen you will see the Hardware tab. Select that tab and then Device Manager. You should see your WiFi card under the Network Device list. If not you need the driver. If you see Other Devices and items with ? mark then you need drivers for those.

Go to IBM website and under support enter your Model information. You should be able to download the correct driver for your card and video, sount etc.

If you dont have wi-fi to connect to the internet you will need to use the eithernet port and an eithernet cable. That driver should be working under XP.
