I have Windows Media Player version 10, tried upgrading to 11 and that did nothing. I also had Nimo's codec pack installed. I have tried multiple combinations of installing and uninstalling both windows media and nimo's codec pack to no success. Whenever I try to play a file now I get this message:

Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I am then prompted to send an error report...and windows media player closes. Any ideas how to fix this? Uninstalling and reinstalling windows media doesn't seem to work

I have a extremely low job title at my job, anyway my superiors all seem to detest vista even though they have been given the license to use it free on their home systems, and they have been duel booting it since the early open beta since they will be required to switch over in 6 months.

So after hearing the complaints from my bosses, my question is do you personally think (or know) that most people that buy vista are duel booting it currently?

If you think there are no current problems with vista, type why wont vista work into google, msn search, or even the search bar above.

I can't find a good program for putting videos, mostly AVI, onto menus, then to dvd to watch on my dvd player. I downloaded ConvertX to DVD, put in the menu name, background, then the video...it took 4 hours to complete...and it SUCKS. I bought it...and this is the second attempt. I put everything on high quality, and it sucks. The audio sounds like its being put through a fan, the video looks like its pixalated. I thought the program would be good, but I was surely mistaken. Is there ANY GOOD programs? Besides the ones that cost 800$. All I want to do is, Make menus with backgrounds possibly with music, put AVI videos into those menus, make chapters, and burn it. Thats all. Im beginning to get angry cause I've been working on this stuff for 4 days now, wasting about 10 hours a day learning about stuff, downloading programs, and I even bought a couple...and sadly they all suck so far. So please, someone help me.

I just bought a laptop, and it has Windows Vista on it. Vista is a pain in the butt, for me, at least, and I would like to have a dual boot with Ubuntu. Vista comes with a program to partition the drive, but is that partition suitable for loading another OS. I haven't looked at it yet, so I was wondering if anyone had the answer.

Microsoft had such big plans for the software and now there are all these returns, crashes due to not meeting requirements and compatibility issues. Should Microsoft just face the facts and recall Vista until a later date and will this hurt Microsoft in the future.

Okay, so I have the newest update of Media Player (yuk, I don't like it) but I cannot clear out the folder called "Recently Added". I have searched the Microsoft FAQ and have tried everything I can think of to clear the folder. I tried moving stuff into new playlists and even that doesn't work -- the files still show in the Recently Added folder. GRRRR.

Any ideas???
