I have 2 computers. On one I have Windows XP Professional. I'm wanting to install Media Center 2005 on the other one. Can I do this without buying a second copy of XP Professional?

Yes, Media Center is an operating system all its own, but it's also XP. It has some limitations, so read more about it before you buy and install it.

you can install the media center edition without purchasing another copy of professional. windows xp came in: XP Home, XP Media Center Edition, and XP Professional. you can purchase any copy at any time. if your system is ready for Windows Vista, i would purchase Windows Vista Ultimate. it has all the features of Media Center plus a little more. the only draw back, it costs more than XP Media Center. make sure that your system can handle Media Center, ie. memory, processor, graphics and sound cards.

I'm not sure you can even buy Media Center software. I think it comes preinstalled only.
