That's an easy fix. You did not mention which operating system (OS) you use. I assume it's Windows XP.
1. Right-click on MY COMPUTER
2. Click on PROPERTIES
3. Click on the ADVANCED tab
4. Under PERFORMANCE, click on SETTINGS
5. Click on the ADVANCED tab
6. Under VIRTUAL MEMORY, click on CHANGE
7. Click on SYSTEM MANAGED SIZE

There are 2 possible answers to this question that I can think of. Virtual memory finds the largest possible section of unbroken space to use for memory. If your harddrive has been defragmented in a while (should do that once a week) there won't be much open space for the machine to grab. Thus low virtual memeory. Also if your C: or Main drive is over 3/4 full, you will start to see the same problem. Sometimes the program your using can be a resource hog (graphic/math intensive programs.) Make sure you meet the requirments for the program you are using. Hope this helps. :-|>

most of the above answers are ok but make sure you have scanned your system for viruses...they can cause virtual memory to get used up pretty fast, so don't go buying more RAM until you're sure its really a memory problem.
ps: when asking such questions it helps to post your system specs and say when this message is shown.

Look up your virtual memory in the control panel. Change it to the maximum setting.
Or go buy more physical memory for the machine.
If you're on a mac, you are screwed. It's time to buy another machine.
