If you are looking to install Vista on your old computer, you may want to see the specs. Vista takes a lot of video, but the graphic is amazing. Also some of the software that I use on XP, does not work in Vista.

This will help too:

Vista seems like a very good product especially if you have children that you want to be safe when on the internet and such. I haven't seen any bugs with it but I think you might want to wait until more people start to use the Operating Software itself. Microsoft 2003 applications (Word..., PowerPoint..., ...2003) etc...are still being widely used.

if you have xp your good for a while. vista will still have problems for a while, i personally do not like macs, but some people love them, the thing is they are hard to update them and i jsut don't liek the way they are setup, if you are only going to surf the web and check your e-mail linux is the way to go. but its hard to find programs for it, it does come with an office program that has word and excel. and web broser and e-mail client.
