Can anyone help advise me of the best way to learn how to use Microsoft Powerpoint properly, I would really love to be able to use at Uni and be the best at it! :o)
Any reccomendations for books, courses (online or otherwise) would be most gratefully received. Thanks.

The best set of books I've seen for Microsoft Office is the ones Microsoft puts out... Step-by-Step. Other than that, I would recommend just playing around with the effects, especially the Picture Toolbar. Anytime you have a photo from outside of PowerPoint, the Picture Toolbar has a lot of nice features that can help make it look more integrated. My final recommendation would be to never overuse the features. For example, keep the background simple enough to read the text clearly, and don't use crazy fonts. Also, you don't need to animate every single letter, use animation for emphasis only, and I would recommend never using sound effects, unless your presentation is on music or something like that. Good luck!

I can't answer your main question, but only point out that I've seen some AWFUL powerpoint presentations. Just because you can do fade-ins, cross-fades, and a slide-in from every point of the compass using 17 different fonts doesn't mean you should. Some people get so hung up on making a glitzy slideshow that they distract the audience from the message they're trying to convey. Simple is usually best....
