I download movies from limewire, but I can only play ones in mpg and mpeg format. all the good movies are in avi format. what program can I download(for free) to play these movies?

i want to burn my avi files straight to the dvd or vcd without changing its format. i have done it before with a vcd but i dont remember how i did it.

I am trying to install it now.....but its taking ages to copy files on to my system from DVD....dont know how long more will it take....i am in a rush....shall i cancel it or give it 30 more minutes ???

when i log onto my computer it is just my background, my desktop icons have gone, i have no toolbar so i cant go to start etc. there is a white strip at the bottom but i cant right click at all. i can access my documents through task manager but i cannot open paint, calculator, control panel etc. please help, i have a medion pc and it windows xp home edition.

I have an Anti-virus programme which came with my new PC. The programme tells me that I shouldn't load up another Anti-virus proramme to run in conjunction with the one already mentioned.... as it could cause the computer to not start up properly??? going on to tell me that having 2 Anti-virus programmes installed could cause conflict between either or both....However; I have been told (by friends) that it is indeed safe to use more than one Anti-virus programme as different programmes can deal with different virus's. What to do??? any light on the subject would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Guys.
If it's possible to use more than one Anti-virus programme, how many can I use at once. Is it possible there could be conflict??
I realise to some I may sound thick concerning computers! That's because I am I'm afraid. LOL :-)

every time i want to load up any microsoft office programme my computer tries to load up the set up and i end up having to run microsoft word, excel etc all in safe mode.

My control button isnt working, for shortcuts. I even went the program paint and tried the shortcuts with the control button but its not working, BOTH of the control buttons.........but it works when i do CTRL+ALT+DELETE and it works in word when i copy and paste (CTRL P and CTRL V) but it doesnt capatalize letters.......do i just need a new keyboard?? I'm so confused

My Windows XP has crashed and ended up installing it in another HD (80GB). Now I need to unistall XP from my first HD (SATA 400GD) but I need to keep all my media files (around 300gb) in the SATA HD, because it obviouslly would't fit in the HD I have XP now. Is there a way to unistall XP from the SATA HD without formating it? then I would be able to use the SATA HD as a storage HD and have my media files (already there) there.
