This depends upon the speed of your computer. I installed the Beta on a computer using an Intel Core Duo 3.4GHz processor and 1.5GB of RAM and it took about 45 minutes.

what are the specs of your pc. is it vista capable.

sometimes some pc needs a BIOS upgrade in order to be completely compatible with vista. I know my notebook is compatible with vista, but the manufacturer has not released a new BIOS that will support Vista yet. If i go ahead and install Vista now, then I will face infinite reboots.
Also which beta is it, i heard that RC1 takes time to install.
