ok there's this file i have, with over 2,000 fragments. disk defregmenter isn't working on it like i should, and it's gumming my game down. But i can't reinstall because i lost the manual. how do i get that file defregmented. (it's a 250mb sound file cabnet, so i can't just not use the files in game.)

When I bought the comp, it had Windows ME installed on it. A few years later I upgraded to Windows XP Pro. Now, I've used the original disk that came with it (ME) to reformat back to the old OS before, but now when I try it, I get this error message. I need my old OS (ME) so that I can use a spreadsheet. (I'm sending out Christmas cards, and need it for the label setup.) When I upgraded to XP, it didn't install any of the business tools like Excel, Access, etc. I've backed up everything... I just want to wipe my comp clean and start over. For some reason, it's not recognizing my comp as an HP. Can someone please give me directions on what to do here?

1) I have nothing in my startup folder on the start menu...

2) I have a load of things in the stratup when I run msconfig

but is there anyway to monitor the actual startup process so I find out which is the culprit?!? Might it even be something else that isn't even listed there?!?

I have a CDR-RW with a neat photo on it but I accidentally put something else on it (no harm done) as I used what I thought was a blank CD. Can I write on the actual CD where there are lines or will it destroy the contents. I have the information on the jacket casing but they are easily mixed up if one is not careful.
