Yes. Go to the Control Panel (through the start menu) and click on 'Add or Remove Programs.' The click on 'Add/Remove Windows Components' in the left-hand column. From that menu you can uncheck anything you want from the menu, like IE and Windows Media Player, then follow the prompts and it will be uninstalled.

You can't uninstall IE on a windows machine. Your operating system needs it to run (which is why there is all those trust busting measures going on with microsoft). Most of the stuff that comes installed with the computer that is "mircosoft crap" is kinda needed to run microsoft windows. If you don't want anything microsoft on your machine you would need to get a different OS like Linux or get a whole new computer and get a Mac.

There is always the option of not using the software that you don't want. With all the updates and stuff i have installed on my machine it takes up between 5-10 MB for the operating system and its goodies. Usually HDD today are 80+ so you will have plenty of space if you just keep it all on.
