dvds any more with real player or media player think i might have removed some sort of running program by mistake cheers

uninstall your media player(s) and then reinstall them that should sort it out for you quite easily, then they should play fine.

Real Player is not suppose to read DVD. You need some kind of DVD player like WinDVD or SonicDVD.

Sound like you need to uninstall mediaplayer and re-install it.
You can download and install the latest version from here (if your copy of windows is legal).

ust as a tip, it is always worth keeping a copy of useful installation files on your HD. You never know when you will need them.
