Hi,
I currently have a free trial of Norton Internet Security Suite on my HP computer. However, in a couple of weeks, the trial will end. My question, what free programs can I use to replace this program? In other words, what exactly does the Norton program have (firewall, spyware protection, etc.)?

I went there to try to scan for viruses and have them removed but the first time I used it, here was a counter telling me how long it would take to clean the viruses and it started from 2 and a half minutes and stopped at 30 seconds for 2 hours so I gave up and tried again. The next time I used it it counted down from 2 and a half minutes again but got for an hour on 7 seconds. The viruses were not removed. What's wrong with it?

Just curious how a website can track you. I know the usual methods of cookies and IP address. But are there are methods? Such as through certian browsers?

Our router only supports WEP, and I heard that it is bad security, so should I just leave it unsecured and use MAC filtering? We aren't going to replace the wireless router, so thats not an option. Its a comcast netgear router. Any suggestions?

Is it easier for someone to moniter our network traffic if WEP is disabled, or is it just the same with WEP enabled? should i be worried about anything?

Will my internet go faster with WEP disabled by the way....Sorry for all the questions!

Now I don't know if it's the cable companies fault but my computer's internet keeps goin down and i have to unplug it everytime it goes down and plug it back in so it works for a little while longer. I have a mac but no warrenty so i can't call them. Now I know Mac's cannot get viruses but what could be wrong. My other windows is doing the same and acting a lot slower than usual. Could this be a virus in any way or spyware or any of the above..even for a mac?

First Norton said there were 4 viruses detected...one that could not be accessed nor removed. This was 2 days ago. Now at the bottom toolbar there is tons of envelopes with a magnify glass on it. Symantic is running a scan on ALL these msgs. And they are neverending! I keep getting hundreds of popups from Symantec(Norton) saying that the msg I sent was denied, SPAM, permanently blocked, or I need to try again later. I of course am not sending the messages, and now it is running EXTREMELY slow and I am still getting the popups.
I called a computer fixer place, they said that I can try to do a backup data and it might fix the problem. If not I'll have to get it fixed by a technician for about $120-150!!
PLEASE HELP ME! I would like to do this my self. I am pretty good on the computer, I've just never come across this issue. I DON'T have the the $$ to take it in.
If anyone has any advise or some things that I myself can try doing I would deeply appreciate it! Thanks

I read somewhere that you should only have one firewall running at a time. If I install Norton Anti Virus, do I need to disable the firewall on my Windows XP?

I had Windows Defender Spyware program that expired on December 31. I followed instructions to install the new version x64. I removed the old program from the computer. Then down
loaded the new version, which after download and attempted installation gave me error message "The installed package is not supported by this processor type". My processor is an Intel pentium 4cpu 1.90 ghz. I have SP2 installed. I have installed, without a problem, the last two versions of Windows Defender. The only changes in my computer since the last installation in August has been, the upgradeing to a Windows 7.0 browser and the change to at&t broadband from at&t isp and the replacement of Norton 2003 with Norton 2006.
I would appreciate any insights into solving the problem.
