Just curious how a website can track you. I know the usual methods of cookies and IP address. But are there are methods? Such as through certian browsers?

"Web-bugs" are a popular method as well, especially when planted in spam or malware. A web-bug is a link to a tiny graphic image that's too small to see. It's typically 1 pixel by 1 pixel and is the same color as the background. When your browser or e-mail program access the web-bug link, the person who planted it knows that you opened the e-mail or visited the site.

Ad-ware and spy ware will do that too....the browser, NO that does not track you. Where you visit and if you have any ad-ware or spy-ware in your system. Cookies don't have any method of tracking.. those are just in the system for a prior visit and you will get loading of that site if it's been cookied. IP, yes that is correct. You are predominately tracked by an IP address. Hope this helped.

It can track through softwares called Adware, which see what kind of websites users visit and depending on the taste and preferance of the user advertisements are targeted as Pop-ups or ads in some websites supported by that adware software

Browser:
If you use a very rare browser, they might also be able to track you.
