If you have Norton, use the Help menu and find out how to use it. Don't add a second firewall or antoi virus as you only want one.
You can scan while in safe mode to increase the chances of removing a virus. Safe Mode only lets Windows start up, so hopefully any virus won't be active when you scan.
And add anti adware and anti spyware plus a few other things to stop the rubbish getting on your pc in the first place! thats easier than removing it.
You need to install one firewall and one anti virus, which you have with Norton;

You need all three anti spyware programs;
http://www.ewido.net - AVG(Ewido) anti trojan.
http://www.lavasoft.com - Ad-Aware SE Personal anti adware
http://www.safer-networking.org - Spybot Search and Destroy anti spyware. Use the Teatimer settings toprotect Internet Explorer, and the Immuniser to stop malware getting on your pc.
Also use Microsoft Defender and their online scans.

And these are useful utilities;
http://www.mozilla.com/ - Firefox web browser. Add the Adblocker plugin for faster browsing.
http://www.ccleaner.com Cr*pcleaner Registry cleaner and privacy tool
Winpatrol is a handy utility that manages cookies on your pc and stops unwanted changes to your startup folder.
http://www.winpatrol.com
Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com
http://www.siteadvisor.com -MacAffee Site Advisor warns about malware on sites you are about to visit.

Remember to update and run all of you anti malware programs at least once a week.

Hi:

Norton may get most of them assuming that you have the latest virus definition files. But will do nothing for spyware..

I prefer to use STOP by e-anthology/e-Acceleration, a much better package that does
not cause performance problems like Norton and tends to be cheaper the more machines you register.. You can check out STOP by going to http://www.stop-sign.com

P.S. I have been using STOP for 6 years now and never had an
infection that STOP would not cure/ remove.. It also does a
great job of cleaning out spyware..

Go to www.grisoft.com and download AVG Antivirus for free. It is a great program and it scans everything. I had the same problem with my Dell laptop a month or so ago and it found and fixed all the problems :o)

Do the free online scan, then download their free anti spyware. It's excellent.

Good luck!
