The problem with using popup blockers is that if you are infected with spyware, like AntiVermins, it can override the blockers, and generate popups anyway. I got AntiVermins on my computer a week or so ago, and no matter how many popup blockers I had, I kept getting annoying ads and popups trying to get me to buy some bogus spyware scanner.
After using some free spyware scanners with limited success, I finally decided to buy a commerical-grade spyware scanner, using the instructions on this website:
http://remove-antivermins.com/antivermins-removal.html
Not only did this put a stop to the unwanted popups, but it also found and removed an embarassing amount of garbage I didn't even know about. Now, my PC seems to be back to normal, and I wonder how I ever lived without a spyware scanner in the first place!
Good luck!
