I had Windows Defender Spyware program that expired on December 31. I followed instructions to install the new version x64. I removed the old program from the computer. Then down
loaded the new version, which after download and attempted installation gave me error message "The installed package is not supported by this processor type". My processor is an Intel pentium 4cpu 1.90 ghz. I have SP2 installed. I have installed, without a problem, the last two versions of Windows Defender. The only changes in my computer since the last installation in August has been, the upgradeing to a Windows 7.0 browser and the change to at&t broadband from at&t isp and the replacement of Norton 2003 with Norton 2006.
I would appreciate any insights into solving the problem.

you have downloaded the x64 version which will only run with 64bit processors. your processor is a 32 bit one. you need to download the version that does not have the x64 at the end
