I went there to try to scan for viruses and have them removed but the first time I used it, here was a counter telling me how long it would take to clean the viruses and it started from 2 and a half minutes and stopped at 30 seconds for 2 hours so I gave up and tried again. The next time I used it it counted down from 2 and a half minutes again but got for an hour on 7 seconds. The viruses were not removed. What's wrong with it?

I've had issues before but usually I can get it to work on the second or third try. There is really nothing I do particularly for it, just retry. However, I do usually scan during the night hours. I usually start it right before I go to bed or something and catch up with it in the morning. That way, it may be less busy and even if it still takes a long time, you're not waiting around for it. When it does work, it picks up way more viruses than my McAfee ever does.

That counter on Houscall can be confusing. It does take a long time to scan because it is doing a Virus and Greyware(spyware) scan. It generally takes 40 min to 1hr 10 min on my computer. Your may be longer depending on how many programs and files you have.

Trend Micro has an online Anti-Spyware scanner that is easier and less confusing to use. You must accept and download an ActiveX control it offers you.

Depending on the time of day, the servers can run really slow, or so they say.

To be honest with you, I haven't had a lot of luck using housecall either. I can't even get it to finish downloading its files to my machine; so you are one step closer than I.

Best of luck to you.
