if an avatar is female do you assume that the person behind it is female? If you look at a profile, do you believe what you read? I'm asking this because I read a report in the Scottish Express today where a male 30something reporter posed as a 13 year old girl, and while I hope that no one on here would take advantage of that particular situation, I was thinking about how naive and trusting everyone (including me) is on the internet. Do you have advice or experience to educate people on the dark side of theinternet?

I think I have a computer virus. I have SBC Yahoo DSL internet, and I have all the antivirus and online protection downloads. I use both often. My internet is slow, freezes up and I get pop ups ALOT. The anti virus software pops up telling me my computer is infected, but doesn't give me the option of deleting them. I don't want to have to completely restore the computer. Is there a software or something I can download that will get rid of the viruses and make my internet fast with no popups again?

Is there a way to restart a netcat session.. basically I'm trying to use NC to do port forwarding so my imap server will listen on another port too.. but the problem is, is that once the user disconnects, nc stops listening.. is there a way to get it to restart itself or stay in a listening state so it will grab the next request too??

I just got a new Compaq Presario laptop (custom) about four or five months ago. Every so often while typing my text will appear in all caps pressing the caps lock button makes the text appear in lower case again but my punctuation marks react as if the caps lock button is still being used.

This happens randomly, so it would seem to be some kind of spyware or virus, but all my spyware software and Norton says that everything is ok.

Does anyone know of a virus/spyware/adware that does this and if so do you know how I can get rid of it. Thanks.

Be alert during the next few days: Don't open any message with an attached file called "Invitation", regardless of who sent it. It's a virus that opens an Olympic Torch that "burns" the whole hard disk of your computer. This virus will come from someone who has your e-mail address; that's why you should send this e-mail to all your contacts. It's better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus

DON'T open it and shut down your computer immediately ... This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it's been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. The virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there's no repair yet for this particular virus. It simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disk, where vital information is kept.

I have the pass code and user name for a website I need to use for business purposes.

When I put the pass code and user name in, it accepts the log in but when I go to use any of the links once logged in, it directs me back to the log in page.

Any suggestions? I have a E Machine T6520 with Windows xp and Macafee Security systems. I have added the webpage (log in page) to my "accept cookies" in internet connections and to the firewall.

This happened once before with another webpage and once I added it like this one, it worked.

What could be blocking it?
