I have the pass code and user name for a website I need to use for business purposes.

When I put the pass code and user name in, it accepts the log in but when I go to use any of the links once logged in, it directs me back to the log in page.

Any suggestions? I have a E Machine T6520 with Windows xp and Macafee Security systems. I have added the webpage (log in page) to my "accept cookies" in internet connections and to the firewall.

This happened once before with another webpage and once I added it like this one, it worked.

What could be blocking it?

I have experienced a similiar problem myself. I'm in the IT field my self, IT Support. I encountered the problem while trying to use internet banking, i'd like to point out that this problem i experienced happened with firefox not IE. Like many problems the issue sorted itself out. Also what firewall are you using becuase it sounds to me like the cookies are being blocked even though you set it so cookies are accepted on the site.

Trace it all back to your firewall. I hope your not using windows firewall eek!. Also another possibility do you have a spyware removal program such as adaware, or spybot search and destroy etc. Alot of them block cookies and remove them as they see them as potential spy cookies even though they may not be.

Hope i've helped you if not you've always got google.

Keep at it hope yuo fix your problem soon =)

Sometimes if the website uses Javascripts or any other kind of script you browser or security system may block it thinking it is spam or something. Look through your McAfee security and make sure all scripts are enabled for that site. Also check Windows Firewall settings.

Or if that does not work either try the following:

If you are the administrator of that computer you are using, then create another user account/username in Windows

Log Off and login to that new user account

Then try logging in to that website.

How long has it been since you logged into this site? Are you accessing this site using your bookmark?

It is possible that they have made changes to their site, but you are trying to use the old bookmark link. Go directly to the site by ENTERING the url into the address bar and then try logging in again.

It is possible that the problem lies within their own webserver, and it might not be your problem. Yahoo auctions was doing that with a few people, redirecting them to the homepage instead of where the user was supposed to go. It was later fixed when the user complained. You might need to ask the webmaster of your business login site and ask them to look into it.

A suggestion that worked for me a few days ago.

I will assume that you are using Internet Explorer.
From IE, select Tools, Internet Options.
Select the Connections tab, and click on LAN settings.
Ensure that 'Automatically detect settings' is checked, and all other items are unchecked.
Click OK to close all windows.
You may have to close and restart the browser in order for the new changes to take effect.

This helped me when trying to download something from HP's web site.

Good Luck.

Check you r Mcafee logs. If anything is getting blocked there, it will be written to the logs.

Also change web browsers, always worth a try. If you are a computer geek then you won't be using IE - probably Firedox or Opera. Just this once, use IE see what happens.

Also, clear you Internet cache. Doubt this is it, but it's always worth doing.

Try adding it to Trusted Sites in your Internet Explorer security settings.

Tools > Internet Options
Click the Security tab. Select Trusted Sites and add the login page.

It sounds like an error in the website you're logging onto. Sometimes hackers hijack websites for their own amusement or benefit, but that doesn't sound like what you're experiencing. Make sure that if a fee is involved to maintain membership, that it is current. If it has a trial membership, you may have run out of trial time.

The web site could be having log in problems. Wait a few hours and try again or call them if you have their number to verify there are no issues with their server.
