There are plenty of FREE versions of very good software.
CCleaner
Ad-Aware
AVG
Avast!
There are four with free slightly-limited versions that come to mind. In fact, I use all four, myself.
There are also some good firewall programs. I don't know their names but C/Net is a wonderful source for reviews as well as downloads of assorted buy-or-free programs.
I'd not use my computer in your situation until I have downloaded and installed the free stuff. Use your local public library to research what programs you need in addition to the above and/or what you do have that is operational.
Finally, check at the library to see if there is a local computer club. If so, contact it. Try your local highschool or college for an instructor who will assist you in getting free stuff, as well.
Best of luck.
Added: MS has Malware that you can download for free if you are a registered user.

That is an attractive respectable construct, and do not concentrate to the fellow suggesting that you simply get an Nvidia snap shots card alternatively of the 7770. The 7770 is a high-quality card for it is rate, and will deliver you playable body premiums on Ultra in Battlefield three at 1920x1080 so long as you flip Antialiasing Post on, however depart Antialiasing deferred off. My simplest notion, despite the fact that I recognise you're on the cheap, is to spend approximately $20 extra at the processor and get an i3, even as men and women say processors don't subject so much in relation to gaming, the change in i3s, i5s, and i7s in relation to gaming as opposed to every other processor will deliver you so much larger gaming efficiency, an i3 may also beat out an FX-8120 in relation to frames in line with moment.

One free one that I keep on my computer is SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY - It'll find any BAD and destroy it and help keep your computer in good shape. The other I have is Windows Defender Beta 2 and it'll keep your computer in good shape. Both are free downloads. You can always go to www.ask.com and in the question block type in your question...Where can I get Spybot free download? Then after you get that one, do the same for Windows Defender Beta 2. Both are great - were recommended to me by pros after I paid big bucks to have virus removed.

◙ Download and install AVG. Use it first and see if it finds any viruses or trojans.

◙ The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool checks computers running Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 for infections by specific, prevalent malicious software—including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom—and helps remove any infection found. When the detection and removal process is complete, the tool displays a report describing the outcome, including which, if any, malicious software was detected and removed.
