I just got a new Compaq Presario laptop (custom) about four or five months ago. Every so often while typing my text will appear in all caps pressing the caps lock button makes the text appear in lower case again but my punctuation marks react as if the caps lock button is still being used.

This happens randomly, so it would seem to be some kind of spyware or virus, but all my spyware software and Norton says that everything is ok.

Does anyone know of a virus/spyware/adware that does this and if so do you know how I can get rid of it. Thanks.

Just to let you all know, I also thought faulty keyboard and before coming here I talked to HP who said it was a virus or spyware... so I am wondering if there is anything out there that I might be missing before I call them back and yell t them.

hi, I have met the same situation as you. Its a annoying spyware. perhaps you can try norton or Macfee, or spyware doctore to remove the spyware, these three software all need a fee to use..

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox cannot remove the spyware, but it can disable this spyware to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

My bet would be either a failing keyboard, or you fat-fingered the Caps Lock key.
