Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the new comptia A+ exams? The A+ Essentials and A+ IT Technician. They look to be very similar and wondering if anyone can tell me the difference. I was going to take the older Hardware and OS Exams, but noticed they udated their test.

Recently I have been tampering with my computer’s registry to improve my system performance. However, doing so has caused the exact opposite result. Now during the time my desktop loads I am inundated with an arsenal of error messages.

Each time I log into my user account Windows Live Messenger will start up automatically, which is exactly what it’s supposed to do. However, after tampering with the registry (and a few other things) I am getting the following installer window instead http://tinyurl.com/ykuyuz. Each time messenger fails to install and instead this error message pops up http://tinyurl.com/ycwr4o. Currently there is no possible way of using Messenger.

Since the message states there is an error with accessing a key, I suspect there to be a problem with permissions. I am also receiving similar error messages when trying to use other programs. For example when I open up Microsoft Word I am presented with this error http://tinyurl.com/ycz7n7.

I have a file that is 49.868 megs and when I zip it it's only 49.079 mb. Is that really as small as it can get? I want to email it and theres no way it will send. Any tips, remember I'm a Dummy. Not really I'm not that dumb but I am at this I guess.

I purchased some products from Tigerdirect.com and it had a rebate connected to it. I filled out the rebate info and selected to have it sent to me in a gift card from Tigerdirect by paying an extra two dollars to get it in three days. This was completed on October 16 2006 and I have not heard anything since. I have sent numerous emails to the company and have only gotten the automated emails with no furthur information given. Has anyone had any problems with this company or had problems with rebates like this?

When I turn on my computer, I get the screen saying “Windows is starting up” and it doesn’t. If I start my computer & hit F8, There is an error message saying “keyboard failure” before it lists other starting options like “safe mode,” or “Start Windows normally,” ect. Regardless of which option I choose, the key board will not let me type in my password. If I repeatedly restart my computer using the F8 key, eventually I will not receive the “keyboard failure” message and I can start it ONLY in safe mode. If the keyboard is the problem, how can using the F8 key work for starting in safe mode?

on any computer, so please dont suggest an application that has to be placed on the computer i want it to auto run on. The best lead i have so far is to put a partition on my jumpdrive that acts as a cd which auto runs. What application would i use to do that/how would i go about doing that?

I have tried editing the TypeGuessRows in the registry and set it to 0. This did not work, though.

as of this morning each time i try to acces my mailbox my email homepage comes up and there is a line about 3 or 4 inches long and about the width of the wire of a large paper clip running vertically just to the right side of my total number of emails.....this line just appeared out of nowhere and my screen freezes....i cant close out, check mail or anything except to ctrl+alt+del to end task....if i double click just at the top of the vertical line it goes away and i can proceed but every now and again it pops back up and freezes my screen again...and if i minimize and the line pops up and i am unaware of it i cannot maximize by clicking on my bottom task bar....its as if it is also frozen...also i can access this mailbox from another computer with no problem...it appears to be just my computer and i dont seem to be having any other trouble..can i delete this email account and recreate it? anyone with tips on what this can be or how to remedy the problem?....any help would be great!

Ok this may be astupid question but i'm wiping my computer yet again in an attempt to speed it up, i'll be using the ghost image that came on the recovery disc with the machine and i was wondering how would i partition the drive to reiinstall the OS and programs into the partition and use the rest of drive for storage. any one got any suggestions? do i partion it before i wipe it or is there someway to partition it after wiping and before installing the recovery (yea im confused and too poor to consider calling tech support lol)

Ive got windows media player....and i downloaded Dvix or wutever and it didnt work...ive downloaded AVS DVD player...and it doesnt work....so...yah....when i put a dvd in...it doesnt do anything...when i open the cd-rw folder....nothing is inside.....so..yah...wut do i do..to get a dvd to play....

Here's what I know about my computer:
-It's an eMachine
-T6528 desktop model
-It came with 512 MB DDR SDRAM

Now when I go to Best Buy or wherever to buy a stick of RAM, how do I know what kind to get? Do I just tell them I need DDR SDRAM? Or do they need to know anything else? (Other than how much I want, like 512, 1 gig, etc.)
