If you are serious.Then i ipod is a small machine that you can download music to.And if you get one called a video ipod you may download as many tv shows and movies you want to.

Don't feel dumb -- if you don't know you don't know. An iPod is the next generation of "Walkman." It's made by the Apple Computer company, and it can play many different types of digital music files (most notably MP3 files). What's great about the iPods is you can get several hours worth of music on even the least expensive of the iPods, and if you get the most expensive one you could probably store all the music you would ever want to listen to on it.
You need a computer, a special cord that connects your iPod to your computer, and the computer program "iTunes" which you can get from the Apple web site (http://www.apple.com/iTunes) to be able to load music onto -- and take music off of -- your iPod. It's not difficult. If you have music on CDs that you want to load onto your iPod, you can do it with iTunes. If you have MP3 files that you have downloaded from the Internet that you want to put on your iPod, you can also do that with iTunes. The only time you have a problem with music you download from the Internet is if that music has a digital protection signature. That prevents you from being able to copy it or put it on your iPod. They say you can download songs from www.limewire.com and put them on your iPod, but other sites like www.napster.com or www.rhapsody.com require you to pay 99 cents per song to get the version that is not digitally protected.

It's an Apple product.
One can purchase any number of accesories for the iPod. Not to mention songs.

it is like an mp3 player except that it has horrible memory and the mb is also bad. it is a little pricy but not really! Itis made by apple and there are different types!

Basically it's a hard drive. But there are human interface options that make it a portable music player.
