I would get the nvidia geforce 7600 cause now that 8800 has come out, 7600 just dropped in price and its pretty good bag for buck and its second best card out there, only recently beaten by 8800 which for the time being is just way more than any1 needs and the 7600 is still way awesome.

is it agp or pci-e?

that'll make a difference...

There only really 2 choices with graphics cards... Radeon or Nvidia, both pretty similar although a few minor differences with card graphic high end capabilities

I personally am a Radeon man... nice simple and straight forward... I have a Radeon X1600 pro with 512mb of memory and i have no complaints and can foresee none in gaming with that card for the next 2 years.

find out if your motherboard has AGP or PCI express and get one of those. I would suggest getting the best card you can afford with as much memory as possible, if you intend gaming I would suggest min 256Mb.

Figure out what you want to do, some cards have a connection to connect to a TV, some have two monitor ports etc.

i'm notably helpful which you will choose Direct X 10 card for them to paintings properly, which in easy terms works with Vista, and greater so via fact the subsequent wave of video games (those released interior the subsequent 6-10 months) use Direct X 10. Is it conceivable to get one for in easy terms 200 greenbacks? i do no longer think of so... yet they could have long previous down. My fiance offered his 2 Gforce FX 8800 (overclocked) video enjoying cards for $seven-hundred.00 (350 each) yet that grow to be some months in the past. Bioshock performs great on it, and from what he says there heavily isn't subject concerns with video games like Crysus and such. we live in Canada nonetheless, and maximum electronics value greater for some stupid reason.
