go to www.crucial.com and run their online scanner to see what memory you need and what you need to buy. If you have two 256MB chips, you might be maxed out already on that machine. You might have to take out those two and put two new ones in.
Use that scanner it will tell you exactly what you need and how much your system can hold.

you may need to(depending on the mobo) tell them the frequency of the memory eg:- 266mhz/333mhz/400mhz, it should be written on the stick, maybe on a sticker. apart from that,- i reckon you've got the rest of the info you will need SPOT ON :-)
