Your provider is telling you that in optimal conditions with no other traffic, they can provide up to 8 mbps download speeds, this isnt the case! Too many variables such as distance, time of day, how fast the connection on the other end is, etc! Your Speed is about average for cable broadband.

you can have a max of that speed but you may never reach it ... alot of things are dependent of how fast your computer can recieve downloads also, like the site your downloading from and the cables your using and most of all how much info your computer is able to digest at one time. thats all on top of your service providers workload time of day(peak/not peak hours) and outside interferiance such as temp and other slight deversions of information transfer. if your not happy with your service or your not recieving what you feel your paying for then try a new company.
