I have a file that is 49.868 megs and when I zip it it's only 49.079 mb. Is that really as small as it can get? I want to email it and theres no way it will send. Any tips, remember I'm a Dummy. Not really I'm not that dumb but I am at this I guess.
Thanks in advance.

Ok a few more details and thanks so far for the help! It's a "Windows Movie Maker" Video. Have no idea if it's compressed or not already. I was using Winzip as it's free, and I already have it. Are the others free and easy like Winzip?
Thanks. This is the 1st time I've ever zipped ANYTHING.

what file are you trying to compress; if you download winrar you may be able to compress it into .rar files where u specify the size of compression, and it breaks the file up. For example lets say u have 15mb file, u can specify 3mb per .rar file and ull have 5 .rar files. But it depends on the file type.

That may be because the file is already compressed, it cant compress it any more. For example:
Let's say a .wav audio file is 50mb, and you compress it down to 5mb to a .mp3. Well the mp3 is a compressed audio file, therefore if you compress that into a zip, it really isnt going to get smaller.

Mpeg is also a video compression, same as the mp3 therefore it's already compressed, putting it in a zip wont make it smaller.

If you are trying to compress a file type that is already compressed like a jpeg you are not going to get much if any compression.
