Hi. I'm a part-time university lecturer and have decided to switch to Mac (I've had nothing but problems with three Windows PCs this year) as I've heard that they are 'safer' and more reliable. The problem is at work all of the computers, including those in my office, are Windows XP/PC's. I was just wondering how easy is it to transfer between the two operating systems. I don't really use a lot of software apart from Word, Excel, Powerpoint and EndNote, but will need to be able to write up powerpoint lectures for instance and play them without difficulty at University. Could someone please give me some advice here? Should I try my luck with another Windows-based PC or go ahead and switch to Mac? I don't want to be in front of 150 students and unable to open up a lecture! Be grateful for some help...

I have a Creative Zen Touch mp3 player which I have nearly filled with music. The tracks are a mixture of MP3 and WMA files. I find WMA to be as good sounding as MP3's but at a lower bit rate and thus they take up less space. Does anyone know of a free tool that will convert large batches of mp3s to wma at once? The only ones I can find will only convert one file at a time and obviously this is no good when trying to convert thousands of tracks.

I'm typing a document in Microsoft Word (Windows 98, 2nd edition) and I got a pop up from Microsoft saying there was a problem and had to close. When I got back on, my letter was a "read only" document even though I had not done anything to change the status. When I go to tools, nothing is checked and there are no passwords, neither did I ever enter a password. Do I have to start this whole document over? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is a legal paper and has tons of those special indents, bolding, underlining, etc., etc. Thank You
