open the Bitmap in Paint or what ever program is your flavor, when you are done editing it, click file, save as and choose .jpg format when saving... That simple.

JPEG and BMP are compression settings. It stores all of the information and make up of the picture so it is rendered properly. Use any graphic program like MS paint, ACDC, Photoshop etc to convert your files. Open it and then select save as - select jpeg type and you done.

Open it in any form of photograph modifying software - Paint, GIMP, Photoshop, despite - then click record > shop As... and shop it as a JPEG. i would not propose employing Paint, however, by way of fact it from time to time distorts the colour on your pictures.
