When i tried to use the webcam's video program it said "cannot find VFW driver". When i tried to use Yahoo messenger, the messenger just crashed. then last night for some reason it worked just fine. now its back to not working!

ihave aolder computer that uses afloppy disk to boot with but the boot disk is acd rom disk and i need to reformat anew hard drive in order to put windows 98 on it because it wont boot from cd

I was putting my notebook's 2.5'' hdd into an external enclosure. Placed the hdd on top of a clear plastic card, on top of a glass table. Events which are too embarassing to detail led to a few drops of drinking water along the side of the hdd and seeped between it and the plastic sheet. I noticed within 5 minutes and used a paper napkin to dab along the non-metal-plated side of the hdd. None of the pins got wet, only about a square inch area that includes the center of the hdd. I'm assuming a few drops of water may have seeped in. Can I still save my drive? There was no power running through the device at anytime, and it's currently in a cool, dry place. I don't care about data, I just want to be able to use it.

It will let me burn the music to a blank cd but it will but it will only play a little bit of the cd when i try and listen to it.

Can any one help get the full song to burn on my cd?

I have two computers:

Dell Dimension 3000 with 1 GB RAM
2.8 GHz Intel P4
One of the best PCI Interface graphics card [Specs - 256 Mb DDR DirectX 9 compat](PCI because that is all supported by my mobo)
All on a Windows XP Home Ed.

On the other side I have an older Latitude CPx Laptop running Windows 2k
256 MB RAM
750 MHz Intel P3
Crappy Built in graphics (I think 16 Mb or 32 Mb)

I Installed Diablo 2 on my laptop and everything seemed to work fine minimal lagging.

When I tried runnning it on the desktop my screen went totally black and after a minute I had to exit D2 in task manager to see that it was not respodning.

Obviously the desktop is a better PC to run games on but why can't it run D2.... I play COD and CS with almost no lag but I cant play Diablo.... Why not?

And if it help to know both screen resolutions are the same size 1024 x 768

I opened my LG DVR box and inside is a standard Seagate 80 gig ATA hard drive. I tried to plug it into my computer and my system hangs on the drive check even when I unplug all the drives and try to boot from the floppy - I know that the drive is fine since it works ok in the DVR.

The reason I'm going through this is that I want to see if I can copy the movies onto my computer and burn on DVD's using my authoring software which will use less compression - the LG software jumps from 120 min to 250 min format and most movies go from 120-130 minutes max, so that's a lot of lost resolution for nothing!

Hope someone has some REAL constructive ideas about this. Anyone who's not really technical or doesn't know, don't waste your time, this is a techie issue!

I need to upgrade the home hard drive - my 40 giggers are running out of space. Currently I have a second hard drive and drag my data folder to it occasionally to serve as my backup. Any other recommendations in terms of cost and speed? Thanks

In the future I will want to upgrade my computer. Firstly, the RAM, secondly the CPU, and thirdly the GPU (although I only have PCI slots.) Any information would be greatly appreaciated. I prefer to do this myself.

25 harddrives,converted to firewire,installed in server tower,I only will use 2 harddrive at a time (master/slave) so the other 23 will still have the 12v/5v power going to them,but no ground.
tested on a old drive and seams to work good,want to make sure drives will not be harmed before I continue seting up the 25 drives.
going to use in hometheater,switches will be mounted in a case next to coach.
Getting Lazy as the years go by.

Hello people. Does anyone know how I can transfer video footage from numerous video tapes onto my computer at home. Will I need to buy a new Video Player especially for this task? or will I have to buy a new card to add onto my computer box which allows data from the video via a scart lead??
