Computer have a RTC i.e real time clock which was run on a separate lithium battery.
So it does not matter weather the system turn off or on.
Also there was a lot of info regarding how system update his clock when it was in ON state.

The motherboard will be having battery like our normal watches. Once the battery is got over we have replace.

The CLOCK,,, adjusted or not, isn't determined by the ON OFF power switching. It's determined and changed by the connection, either phone modem or dsl, etc.

the motherboard has a battery inside. when the time starts to change you need to replace it.
