if you have window go to run then type in cmd and click ok or hit enter. this will open the command prompt or MS-Dos. then type "format c:" (without the quotes). it should ask you if you are sure you want to format that drive. type "y" (once again without quotes) and there it should go about formating your hard drive.

Are you referring to the recovery disk? You can format any computer with a simple boot disk created with the format file on it. If you dont have the operating system disk though you will not be able to reload the operating system (windows 2000, xp). therefore what i would suggest is to not reformat without the operating system disk. If you ahve the Operating System disk then you can use ti to reformat and reload the computer. Simply put the cd in the drive and during bootup it should ask you to hit any key to boot from cd. Ones this loads you simply tell it to reformat the existing partition and reload the operating system.
Hope this helps.

To reformat your disk.first go to the bios and make changes by making the cd-rom the first boot device within the boot squence and put in the win xp cd into the cd-rom and reboot the system, the system will ask you to press any key to boot from the cd,preferably press the space bar and wait for the xp to load.after which it ask to enter if you want to install the os,press enter to the next screen. Now at here you can choose to maintain the type of partition or use the same partition and enter to formart.follow screen instructions to finish your work

You can download various software from the hard disk manufacturer web site. If you don't have access to the Internet, and you have an operating system's installation CD (Windows, Linux), you can boot from the CD and perform a formatting. Then you can install the operating system too.

See if you have fdisk on your hard drive and then copy it to a new disk.
If not, then search the Internet for fdisk.
Or get your CD out for whatever operating system you have and use that utility offered during install.

there's no distinction between the two. that's the serial key/crack working in the history that residing house windows/Microsoft can see as no longer being actual. you are able to restoration/reinstall overtop of your modern setting up by using purely putting the CD and working the setting up software. That way, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, will go away you with multiple classes that may not artwork till you uninstall and then reinstall them.
