I want to use my laptop for very casual gamning (no desktop for me, please do not mention). I cant decide which one i should purchase, the 7600 has better benchmarks but does not support dx10. Are the specs for the 8400 low enough to make a difference between the two for laptop gaming?

I eat while working on my laptop. Nacho chips, Subway sandwich, Qdoba gumbo...my laptop has seen them all!!! But food crumbs have not settled between the keys and sometimes it becomes difficult to type when the crumbs shift directly under the keys. How can I clean the underneath area of the keys without risking losing a key or two??

Alright, so I have a Toshiba laptop A45-S121 (or something like that). The warranty has expired and it keeps shutting off from overheating. I checked the fan and it's completely clogged with dust. The entire blade is totally covered. I would take off the back and try and clean the fan but I'm not sure how. Compressed air won't work because it'll just blow the dust into the computer and clog something else. What should I do?

Hi All,
The fan on my laptop has gone out hence my laptop overheats and shuts itself down. Can this be fixed? I have an IBM Thinkpad Model T40 I believe. If it can be fixed, will it be expensive or is it something I can do myself? I'm trying to salvage it instead of buying a new one but would like to no my options first. All input is appreciated. Thanks!

i recently got a gateway laptop with a nvida Geforce GO 6100 graphics card and loaded with windows vista home edition. it is suopposed to handle gaming well but when i ran a PC game on it (battlefield 2) , after a few hours of gameplay the computer closed out the program . what could it be ? i was playing online when it happened . i am very upset because its a brand spanking new laptop and it hardley has any programs on it to begin with ,so it should have no problem what-so-ever running ONE freaking game ! i need help ! i am calling for all you computer genuises out there to give me your opinion for what it could be .

I asked already about core 2 duos and amd 64 x2's and was informed that if i get a 64 bit processor i would need to make sure my programs are 64 bit compatable, is this right? I dont really understand this as I believe vista and xp are 32 bit, so would i have to get a different OS than the one offered with my potentially new laptop?

Also, I am wondering if it is possible to add ram to the laptop myself and if so how would i be able to go about doing this?

I was also told that video cards that come in the laptop cant be changed, is this true? If so, what kind of cards should i be looking at getting? The best cards ive seen in laptops im looking at so far all say 256mb and are nvidia or geforce, would those suffice?

Also, would it be feasible to look for a barebones laptop and attempt to do this myself to make sure im getting what i want? Or would looking to add a core 2 quad with a solid video card and 4gb ram overheat the laptop? Or would i be too likely to break it? Thanks

I was at an apple store today, talking with a Mac rep about the computer. And I must say I was impressed and after seeing and learning about all the features. I want it right now. But I don't know if this true or not. But is there going to be a new MacBook Pro coming out within the next year. I don't want to drop over 2 G's for some technology that would be old/outdated within a year. I asked the Mac guy and he quickly said No that this is the newest and just came out few months ago. I think he was referring to the latest version of MacBookPro. I think he really wanted a sell more than telling me the truth or what he knew. But if anyone has any information about a new MacBook Pro. Could you please post the links so I can read about it?

I hope its not a rumor like the so called touchscreen iPod that should have been came out. Please help me and post links.

HELP!!! I have a Gateway laptop that I am having problems with. It is out of warranty so that won't help. Every time I turn it on it only stays on for a few minutes then it will just shut right off. Sometimes it stays on for a couple of hours , other times it stays on for a couple of minutes. I think it might have something to do with the fan, because right when it shuts off the fan sounds really loud. Any suggestions?

I just got my notebook and is prepared for first charging, however, I want to know how long should I charge it for the first time?? Some of my friend said 6-8 hours, some said 24 hours. The range is just too big for me to handle.

And how long should I charge it for the subsequent charges?? How many hours and how do I know if it's fully charged.

Any tips to increase the battery's lifespan?

I am starting Law School in a couple months. I am looking for a good laptop for about $1500. I would require 2 gigs of ram and would like a decent graphics card for a laptop and was hoping for at least 2 gigs of dual core pocessor.

I looked at Dell and some other major companies. What do you guys recommend? Is there a better place to get what I'm looking for cheaper? My friend has a 17" HP laptop which he got for about 1500 that is very nice and has lots of cool features.

Anyway, open to lots of suggestions. And if it would be better to wait, I can probably get it in a month or month and a half if cool new stuff is on the immediate horizon.
