I have got a new HP Pallivian dv6000 notebook computer. It has windows vista preinstalled in it but i don't like it and want to install XP in it. When i boot from XP CD, it says No hard drive found because XP doesn't have the drivers for this computer. Please tell me any other way to remove vista and replace it with XP. looking forward for some nice answer.
thanks

Thats because the notebook is running on SATA RAID mode, so you need to press F6 to insert the SATA drivers during install....

BUT... theres a problem if you do not have a floppy drive as theres no way to do that.

You can however go into the BIOS and set the hard drive mode from RAID to Normal, this will allow XP to see the hard drive as an normal IDE drive during install, but .... you may not be able to install the sound/modem drivers as they somehow are hooked to the SATA mode.

If you know how to slipstream drivers, then you could make a bootable XP CD with the Intel SATA-Raid drivers included, this will get you to a point where XP can see the hard drive, then install the other drivers once its done.

you can bring it back to the dealer and have it fix for you as your request or go to BIOS Set-up, check your boot sequence, first boot: cd-rom, second boot: HDD, third boot: floppy then press "Esc" then press F10 to "exit and save settings" (XP bootable CD must be inside the cd-rom before it starts up). Drivers can be downloaded on their site.
