I have a Toshiba Laptop, that had windows xp... Toshiba sent to me a Windows vista upgrade, and I have installed it on the laptop...

Now, I tried to install this vista upgrade in my desktop (a modern pc), and, as people said in this forum to me, it worked... I haven't put a serial, and if it works i will buy...But now I see that I just can iniciate the OS with the vista DVD in the DVD Drive... Also, I tryed to install my video card (a direct x compatible) and now when I try to enter windows media center, it shows a blue screen (death screen)... I don't know if I need another video drivers...

DO you think this is because the DVD was made to a TOSHIBA laptop, or is it all the same??

How can I resolve it?

My laptop is pretty old, around 5 years old, and overheats in a matter of minutes. After half an hour it can be so hot that it has to shut itself down to prevent damage. I'm wondering, is this a common problem for a rather old computer? And is there some kind of solution?

I was wondering this because I am building a notebook through Dell and I wanted to know to see if I need to spend the extra money.

I have a Dell Inspiron B120 Laptop. Well I regret buying this piece of junk because its been nothing but problems.

Now what it does is whenever I plug a USB device into the side ports. I shuts off immediately. When you turn it back on after about 10 seconds (because it wont let you turn it immediately back on) it says that you exceeded the power limits and the system had to shutdown.

Seriously the only thing I plugged in was a USB mouse. How much energy can an infrared LED take? All the USB ports on the laptop do this. It was working just fine just yesterday! And no it is no longer under warranty.

"There is virtually no performance difference between the 64MB and 128MB versions of the Go7400; TurboCache shared memory compensates for the relatively small amount of video memory on the 64MB version quite well."

IS THIS TRUE? AND IT ALSO APPLIES FOR 7300GO?
I have read this here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=39568

Also, it writes:
"Nvidia's [shared memory technology] is superior, as part of it is done in hardware; ATI's solution relies completely on software and is considerably slower."

I want to buy an Acer laptop with Nvidia Go7300 64Mb because it has a Dual Core 1.73 Ghz T2080 CPU with 2Mb L2, 667 Mhz FSB.
There is an another too, with 128Mb Nvidia Go7300, BUT it has a slower Dual Core 1.73 Ghz T2080 CPU with 1Mb L2, and 533 FSB...
If the two cards have relatively the same performance, then the 1st one would be faster...
And I want to know if it is a good decision...
Please help me.

Thanks.

I downloaded this program at the suggestion of my school's tech help desk, and it says my temperature is 76*c and 92*c. I don't know why there are two values, but that's WAY too hot, isn't it? All I was doing was looking at youtube videos.

I have a lot of space left on my laptop because I bought an external hard drive.

The program is called "mobile meter."

I'm a complete techno-phobe but need to buy a laptop; I need one for my studies (so guess it needs a big memory for storing essays etc) and I also want to go online, store photos, download and store music etc. Don't play games at all - can anyone recommend a good laptop? I've got a budget of up to £400. Thanks!

I have tried a brand new adapter from dell, but the computer still says it requires a 90w adapter. I definitely have the right one and have tried a different one which is known to be good.

When booting off battery power, I do not get the message, and the machine runs fine.

I have updated the bios to the latest version.

Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone have any suggestions other than throw this beater away?

I have been using my own custom built computer (PC) to edit videos for 4 years. Technology advances so fast that my computer, which was once top of the line is now obsolete, with respect to video editing and gaming. I now have an HD Camera and I would like to continue editing films. Its time for me to get a new computer, but I need a laptop. Is there any reasonably priced laptop (PC) (less than $2,000) that could handle the new Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, edit HD video seamlessly (It would not lag) and render the video fairly quickly.

--Breakdown of PC Laptop--
1. Can handle Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
2. Can handle HD video editing without lagging (Seamlessly)
3. Can render the video comparably fast.
4. Under $2000

Thank you very much

I have been waiting to buy a computer.
I was told to give Windows Vista some time on the market, to get the bugs out.
Should I wait a couple of more months, or buy now.

Your elderly neighbor, Mrs.Baines is interested in purchasing a computer. She has never owned a computer and wants our opinion on what kind to purchase. She does not want to make too big of an investment , and mostly wants to use it to type emails to her grandchildren. Would you recommend that Mrs Baines buy a laptop computer or desktop computer? Give three reasons for your suggestion.

I'm thinking of buying wi-fi for my laptop computer. Is it possible to buy a wireless internet connection though say a cell phone company such as t-mobile or verizon and use it through them? Setting cost aside, how would that work in terms of hardware? I've heard that you need to put a card or something in your laptop in order for it to connect. Does it connect via satellite? Would I be able to use in wherever I go, or only at certain hot spots determined by the company?

Thanks!
