I have tried a brand new adapter from dell, but the computer still says it requires a 90w adapter. I definitely have the right one and have tried a different one which is known to be good.
When booting off battery power, I do not get the message, and the machine runs fine.
I have updated the bios to the latest version.
Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone have any suggestions other than throw this beater away?

Hi. I own one. It complains that the battery is less than it really is. Did the same thing as you, updated the BIOS. Everything else seems fine so I just ignore the message and use standby when I'm on AC power. If you have a floppy drive or removable device you could try removing it.
