I have a toshiba laptop. It started to freeze yesterday. I don't know why it is doing this. I've never had any problems with this. So, I put the recovery disk in and it brought it back to its original state. It still continues to freeze. Can anyone help me?

More than likely with a laptop, it is overheating. You need to go out and buy a $5 - $10 can of compressed air and blow out all the open ports on the sides back and bottom of your laptop. Dust accumulation can cause serious overheating which can damage hardware. Good Luck HTH.

There a several reasons why your laptop is freezing. Also a bit more information would help to narrow down the problem. But, I will try to cover all the most common reason for computer lockups.

First question is when was the last time you cleaned your registry. Having a corrupted registry can cause a whole host of errors and problems. Freezing up is one of them. If you have a lot of unnecessary registry keys that are hogging up your computer resources. Your computer is bound to choke.

2. Depending on your RAM specs and your computer usage. This could also be a the issue. Having an insufficient amount of free space does not allow your RAM to function properly. If you are using a lot of RAM by net surfing or other activities without enough empty space your will get freezes. You don't need to buy new RAM but you should increase your free space by removing unnecessary data and perhaps increasing your virtual memory. The below link will show you how.

3. You have spyware could be the culprit, so do a scan and see if your computer is infected.

4. That last area is a hardware drivers. But I don't think this is your problem because your laptop is not so old. So, the drivers should still be up to date. So try the first two suggestion and see if you can get your computer to stop freezing. Hope this helps.

this is a biggie for me, im continually telling my sister and mom to look ahead to the stressful force....... if your attempting to click on something collectively as the stressful force is being accessed, this is the biggest results of freezes in my journey. On any laptop, there's a gentle which will flash on and rancid, whilst this is on, the stressful force is being accessed by utilising the laptop, attempt to permit it end formerly clicking on the rest. So we could say you basically opened the internet, permit it open formerly intending and you will likely end the freezes..... additionally, i might get pissed off and initiate hitting keys at random out of frustration, this basically makes issues worse.

Freeze's doing what? On the internet, playing movies, etc. Its hard to help you.

Run a system restore, back a few days.
Then run every virus scan you can.

Does it freeze when using an application?
Does it freeze when using the net?

Maybe a need for memory!
Maybe a need for cleaning the dust out!
