I have just bought myself a new acer laptop and got a d-link 524 wireless router and usb to go with it. I have plugged the ethernet into my ntl broadband modem and another ethernet from my router to the back of my Pc. Once i was then connected to my Pc when i opened up internet explorer it read "cannot find server". All lights ob the front of the router are on, and the connection strength is excellent, i have no idea whats going on but i cannot connect to the internet.

the fan only comes on about once every 45-60 mins and for only about 10 secs and is loud. After the computer gets so hot shuts down and will not come back on for hours even if I plug it into the wall. It acts like I'm not receiving power because the light that comes on when you plug it into the wall will not come on.

i have just bought an ATI Radeon 7500 32mb AGP LP graphics card, and i was wondering if it was only compatable with laptops, because when i tried to put it into my desktop computer it was WAY too small, so i'm thinkin' that (being that this is low profile and all...) it must be for laptops only. am i right?...or wrong?

I am going to purchase both laptop and router from Dell and have never owned either one. I am a user but by no means a programmer. Since Dell charges quite a bit to set up this system, I assume that it is beyond my capabilities.

I have dial-up at home, but I need to use my laptop when I travel. Is there something I can buy that will allow me to do that without changing my service or paying an extra monthly cost.

I have a 2nd gen ibook (G3 500mhz dual-usb) that I'd like to use in WiFi hotspots. I don't have an airport card. All I can find are articles on how to network to the base station, etc. I have no desire to use it as a wireless laptop at the house, I just want to be able to browse the internet at Starbucks. Is there any way to do this? What hardware/software do I need? Thanks.

I am having trouble enabling Windows Aero. I have the Home Premium Edition of Windows Vista.
I have 1GB of RAM, and 32-bit operating system. But, I have a Radeon IGP 345M graphics card. I'm not sure if that is supported for Aero. And if it is the wrong type, is there anything else I can do? My laptop is made so that you can't change the graphics card.

I spilled a cup of coffee on my laptop (Dell Latitude D600) keyboard a while ago. I disassembled the body of the computer, took out the easily accessible components (HDD, CD, Ram, Wifi), and let the whole thing dry out over night. The next day it seemed to work fine when I turned it on. Then after using for an hour or so it randomly shut off. I tried turning it back on and got a series of beeps but it start up normally. I figured out that the beeps were in response to a keyboard malfunction, so I bought a replacement keboard and installed it. The computer now starts up without beeping but still shuts off at random times (sometimes after 5 minutes sometimes after a couple of hours). Anyone know what is going wrong?
