I spilled a cup of coffee on my laptop (Dell Latitude D600) keyboard a while ago. I disassembled the body of the computer, took out the easily accessible components (HDD, CD, Ram, Wifi), and let the whole thing dry out over night. The next day it seemed to work fine when I turned it on. Then after using for an hour or so it randomly shut off. I tried turning it back on and got a series of beeps but it start up normally. I figured out that the beeps were in response to a keyboard malfunction, so I bought a replacement keboard and installed it. The computer now starts up without beeping but still shuts off at random times (sometimes after 5 minutes sometimes after a couple of hours). Anyone know what is going wrong?

Most common cause of laptops just suddenly going dead is overheating. Open the D600 again and check that the fan in it is working, and nothing is blocking the air flow.

Under where the 3 key is on the keyboard, you will see the air cooling unit. It has four screw that hold it in place (numbered 1-4). Unscrew that unit and take it out. Make sure it is clean so that the air can flow through it. When you put it back, screw it down following the numbers on the unit.

If those do not resolve the issue, then you will probably need to have it looked at by a pro....

Don't turn it on anymore.

Open it up completely if you can especially remove the heat sink from the processor and remove the processor if you can and let it dry.
