Sure, you can buy a wireless router and set it up. Make sure you secure the network so nobody else can use it. Your laptop should detect it automatically.
Your laptop may have a regular analog (telephone) modem installed already, though... have you checked? Obviously you would not be able to access the internet using the laptop and primary computer at the same time, but that is probably not a big problem. See if you have a regular phone jack on your laptop... if you do, create a new network connection and just copy all the settings from your primary computer to the laptop. Then just plug the laptop into the phone line and connect when you want to use it. This would probably be easier, since you are not leaving your primary computer logged on to the dial-up all the time anyway. (If you do this, you might call your dial-up provider and make sure that they allow you to use different computers to connect. They probably will not mind, since you are only using one at a time, but it is safest to check first.)

Hi, since you have dial-up, your only option is if you have a phone that have modem capability, like some Motorola phones that come with the Motorola phone tools software, this will allow you to use your cellphone the same as if you were using you home phone to connect to the dial up server, I'm not sure if the cellphone company will charge you for the minutes you use or not, but this is the only way possible I know.
I will recommend you to get a wireless service, from Verizon or cingular, they're not expensive and the speed is awesome.

if you just plan to use your laptop away from home, make sure you have the wifi card in it. you have to have a special wireless router to send the signal, so you can't use your dialup service. if you just use the laptop away from home, you use their internet service (wherever you go) and don't pay for it.
