No programs are running, and when i open the resource meter there is just a thick blue line at about 35 to 50 percent that is always there, and then the usual thin green line will show up occasionally. It has 2000 megabites ram, so why does it show this 50 percent usage as a blue line? Also I am running Vista

Hi,

on my laptop, the video card shares abt 32MB of memory out of the RAM. I recently bought more RAM, and i would like to allocate more shared memory to the video card, making it a 64MB, or a 128 MB. Is there a way to do that?

I was on the internet and my Winamp program would not shut down. I shut down the laptop and tried to reboot but nothing happened. I am getting power because the light is on and I hear it running but the screen is dark and will not go into Windows setup. It won't go to Windows at all so I can't use the F8 key to start in safe mode since none of the keys work. Any suggestions?

I have a Dell Inspiron 8600, recently formatted the hard drive because of repeated errors. How I got those is another long story. Nonetheless after re-installing windows, I have a feeling that they may have given me the wrong drivers. The original CD that came with the system was not working right, so one technician help me download some drivers from the dell website.

Question is how can I determine what hardware do I have, e.g. NVIDIA card type? is there an online tool that helps evaluate the hardware characteristics? Can I do this somehow with my system offline?

I will appreciate help in this regards,

I have a Toshiba M55-S3315. here's a picture:

http://www.circuitcity.com/IMAGE/product/enlarged/tos/PC.TOS.M55S3315.CN.JPG

Quick Facts:

Intel Pentium M Processor 740
100 GB Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
1024 MB DDR SDRAM
DVD SuperMulti (+/-R double layer)
14" TruBrite Widescreen WXGA
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG
IEEE 1394
5-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter
Microsoft Windows XP Home

I bought this laptop in July 2006, so it can still be considered "new".
Also, it is in perfect condition, no problems whatsoever. Only reason I'm selling it is to get a new laptop.

Any ideas on how I can sell it?

(I'm willing to negotiate prices, if anyone here is interested. Just leave your e-mail)

Thanx.

It beeps even when the sound is muted and headphones are plugged in. The charger is plugged in so it should not be beeping because it is running out of battery. This has become quite distracting especially when studying in a quiet library. How do I stop it from beeping?
