I've got this computer that is verrrrry out of date and i've been looking for a new one in the $900 to $1500 range. I want a computer that does not cause any hassle and I can depend on to work every day. Any suggestions? I don't want a laptop.

You know - companies don't stay in business without backing up their products. It's hard to buy a bad computer for home use - IF you do a little homework and do the right things.

Don't get an "economy" chip (i.e. Celeron)..... stay with the higher end chips; today I'd go a duo core - it's the only way.

The case is important (today their making them with hardly any noise).. I'd try to get 2 gigs of ram and a digital monitor of whatever size and do a little research on the power supply.

Last but not least - these are 'electronic' components; ANYTHING can happen; I don't care how good the computer is. Macs have problems too - don't let people fool you..... so that warranty is very important - don't skimp (unless you want to try to learn about your computer and do it yourself).

I used to sell for Dell - they make a good product IF you don't try to get the 'basic' computer with the 'economy' chip. With computers, it's definitely "you get what you pay for". My cousin's power supply went bad and they had a tech at her door within 24 hours......this was just recently.

Any good manufacturer will back up his product....if it's cheap.... it is......... You should be able to do quite a bit right around 15-1800... (with a warranty).

Sometimes you can find people that will build them "per your specs" and they will warrenty it also. That gives you total control of your components - but you have to do your homework.
