my laptop had a nasty fall, and everytime i turn it on it lights up I hear the fan, then it goes off, the screen will not even come on. I am willing to get another computer, but i need the information on the old one how can i do the transfer if I can't turn the old on. HELPPP!!!!

Hi. Your first answer may be the best because it sounds like your harddrive got some damage. They can sometimes recover files from non-damaged sectors of the drive.

There is a small chance that the hard drive is still intact and something other than the hard drive is causing the laptop to not turn on. However, in most drops and laptops not turning on means the hard drive has crashed. Having said all that, if you remove the laptop hard drive and get an adapter that reads laptop hard drives to an IDE hard drive connector, you can potentially read the data on a desktop PC.
So the connector is something like a small 40 pin connector to a 72-pin (IDE) connector. Yeah you need a tech person to help if this is all confusing. I wouldn't pay more than $100 to get that data, depending on how much that data is worth to you.

I understand your concern about your harddrive data, however I would be more concerned with the need to replace the laptop with a newer one. My deepest sympathies.
As for the harddrive data, it should be fine. Modern day harddrives are built well and should easily survive a fall of less than 10 feet. You should go to the closest computer repair store, and have him remove the laptop's harddrive. You can then easily link up and transfer the data to your new laptop.

Call local computer repair companies and see if they can store all the information for you. Also they may be able to fix whatever broke when it fell, and it may be cheaper than the cost of a new laptop.

Tell her the truth about your beliefs dear. Tell her you dont believe in God why lie? she loves you regardless of your belief. And what makes you think she had never studied Darwins work? Just because someone is raised in Catholocism does not mean they did not study Evolution. Particularly if she went to public school system at all after late 1950s. Why is it so hard for you to believe that many people choose to believe in God and Bible over Evolution? And please dont tell me evolution is fact when there has never been scientific proof of Darwin's Theory. By this I am saying there is nothing prooving that change into another spieces has ever taken place nor anything that suggests it is possible. Yes they have similarities between may animals and humans but that does not necessitate evolution as answer. Your relationship with your mother only suffers when you lie to her. At least if you tell her you do not believe in God she will understand your not wanting to participate in Church. Sit down with her and discuss it with her in reasonable manner. Tell her you dont believe in God and that if she tries to force her beliefs on you it will only cause you to decide to stay away more. Tell her that you respect her belief system but you just cant agree with it. Dont get angered with her talk to her calmly an tell her that you do love her, and you care much for her fealings and you are asking her to show you respect for your beliefs. Yes she will not like hearing that you are Atheist, but it will hurt her more if someone else tells her, she is your mother she loves you more than you think and more than you may ever know till you have a child of your own. She may not understand your unbelief and wonder where she went wrong in raising you. But believe me lies in relationships will come out eventiually and that hurts the trust that the person has in you. And trust is not easily gained back. Yes she may want to force you to church but that is not as bad as her not trusting you. You can tune out what people in church say but it is very hard to repair a relationship that is torn when lies cause lack of trust.

you take the laptop to the local service provider he remove the hdd from the old laptop and insert in local hdd external casing and he will connect the it through a usb cable and he can restore the data with out any problems.

I think your lap top has spy ware or your hard drive crashed that's y won't rebot u might need to in stall your operting system window and format your hard drive to make clean install.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING..CALL THE COMPANY!!..I DID THAT AND THEY FIXED MY COMPUTER FOR FREE OF CHARGE..BUT IF NOT I SAY JUST GO GET A NEW ONE..AND MAKE SURE ITS A HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTER/NOTEBOOK LIKE ONE WITH AMD/ATI GRAPHICS
