How do i make my laptop power up?

I have a toshiba satellite 1450. I recently replaced the power jack on it. I can see power is getting to it because the ac adapter light and battery light are coming. It just won't start up.

let us start with the obvious...did you push the power button?

it might be getting power but mybe not enough
see what your battery says
and the jack

Most obvious that you short circuited something so recheck

try plugging the plug for laptop into a wall socket
