what are the important confrigurations one should look for before buying a laptop?

i am looking forward to buy one costing up to rs. 60000. which is the best suited brand and confriguration is should go for?
high speed and high memory space are the basic requirments. gotto use it for software programing and net surfing.
every sensible suggestion is welcome.

Imp configs are Processor & RAM(Shud 1GB but 512 also works fine).Other things depends on u n ur Vendor.
Dell is d most most acceptbl company in Lappies but Lenovo IBM n Compaq are also good but i prefer Dell its a trusted comp.

There are very many companies that make laptops, but few companies that make the components used to make the laptops. They are very similar, so they will all work just about as good.

The features available are all different, so get one you'll like and that fits your budget, but look the hardest at the warranty. It usually pays for itself the first time you use it.
