No it's not bad.

You should on occasion cycle the battery. (Use it until it's almost dead and then recharge it) so it remains at peak operation and life.

the first laptop i had the battery went dead after a short while, being connected to the mains all the time caused this, I gave it away after a year to someone in the family, and they never managed to re-charge it, hence i know its history.
Now i have a new laptop i used the battery a few times whilst in the main, then I turned off the mains, and allowed the battery to run down to about a third, and then removed it, I read many years ago from a pc tech guy, thats the best thing to do.
So the short answer is no its not a good idea.
Its only a good idea if you remove the battery.

Your battery is great. flow away it in on a similar time as plugged in. After it is charged, the charging circuit shuts off and the battery in simple terms sits there untouched. The laptop attracts all capability from AC. it is as though the battery is bumped off besides. flow away it in. you do no longer would desire to attempt and outsmart the engineering in a sparkling laptop. the element with the battery age has no longer something to do with retaining it crowned off all of the time. to maintain a Li-Ion battery genuine conditioned is to allow it to absolutely drain, then completely recharge. try this various cases each week. retaining it complete all of the time prevents it from completely draining, and ends up in a speedier buildup of inner resistance. in spite of your conditioning efforts, the battery will at last and inevitably build an inner resistace. This inner resistance reasons it to cut back the potential to hold a charge. interior a year or 2, it is going to now no longer have the potential to hold a charge for long, and you will would desire to save it plugged in consistently or get a sparkling battery. that's how Li-Ion batteries artwork, and you'd be able to't preclude it.

Good question, mine is too. I remember the computer doctor in PC world telling someone it should not be on the mains all the time because you will end up paying out for a new battery ?!!
If I take the battery out my pc rocks!

If you only ever use it from the mains, the battery life will be reduced greatly, my notebook PC lasts about 30 seconds with the battery on now.

if you always leave it plugged into the mains then this is fine if you remove your battery keeping the battery constantly charging will ruin your battery if you need to use the laptop away from home then put the battery back in and charge overnight

I do the same and my battery no longer charges. I think that is the only danger.
